Stuart Graham 1995

Called to the Bar in 1995.

Member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.

Member of the Criminal Bar Association.

Degree: LLB(Hons) Law.

Stuart Graham has over 15 years experience of criminal practice in the Crown Court.

Stuart Graham has experience in a wide range of tribunals. Whilst predominantly practicing in the Crown Court, he has experience in Prison Adjudications, Mental Health Tribunals, and Courts Martial. Stuart has experience of appeals to the higher courts, including defence appeals in the Court of Appeal Criminal Division and responding to Attorney General’s References.

As an overview, Stuart has experience as a barrister in crime in high level criminal cases such as aggravated burglary, conspiracies in drugs and fraud (‘cash for crash’ frauds ), section 18 assaults, large scale violent disorder, rape and firearm offences.

Stuart has a particular interest in cases of a technical nature, including cases involving road traffic collision reconstruction.

Stuart’s main speciality is Aviation Law, undertaking cases on behalf of pilots and aircrew accused of breaches of the Air Navigation Order. Stuart has the distinct advantage in this field of having worked as a pilot for over 25 years in the aviation industry. Stuart commenced flying in 1985, first obtaining a basic PPL and subsequent instrument qualifications leading to becoming a Senior C.A.A. Flight Instructor with associated Commercial Pilot’s Licence. Whilst mainly defending pilots and other aviation personnel, Stuart has also prosecuted on behalf of the C.A.A. in highly technical cases such as breaches of approach/landing minima. (Please see link to New Park Court Aviation Team for more details )

Stuart has the rare combination of over 25 years in professional flying coupled with his experience as a Barrister. This dual experience enables clients access to a barrister who can relate to the technicalities of flying from the real experience gained in over thousands of hours of professional flying time.

Stuart was recently specifically chosen to represent an aircraft captain prosecuted in a high profile case. This trial involved the detailed cross examination of professional witnesses such as Air Traffic Controllers and involved several highly technical aspects such as meteorology and Air Law interpretation through the use of visual aids. The trial concluded in an acquittal for the accused whose professional livelihood and career was in jeopardy. ( See link to New Park Court Aviation Team for details )
